The Toyota Hilux Revo has been classified as a utility vehicle. And while that sounds awfully unattractive, what sets it apart from other utility vehicles is that it has a luxurious and a more modern design that many may not expect from an automobile that packs so much power.

The more unique design feature to the Hilux Revo includes a longer hood area, a sort of overbite nose that is practical and has a good approach angle. The back portion, on the other hand, may look similar to common utility vehicles. However, the rear light cluster has now become a bit triangular in shape, and the high brake light is positioned on the tailgate rather than the sports bar. And while this is lost while the tailgate is down, the brake light doesn’t get lost with a canopy or a load.
The Hilux Revo also has 18-inch rims and – depending on the variant you’ve chosen – the tub measures anywhere from 1,569mm to 1,805mm.
Now, don’t expect your wife or mom to jump for joy when they see what’s inside, but they’re definitely going to be happy to see that the interior screams car more than it screams truck.
The steering wheel controls have been simplified and aren’t intrusive when turning the wheel. They’ve been labeled nicely as well for easy operation. The vehicle also comes with a USB port, a dual glovebox, and storage for a phone in the middle. Drink holders have also been strategically placed in both doors and on the center.
Each unit also comes with an infotainment system that has options like navigation, music, and the option to sync your phone for calls and messaging. It also has a reversing camera for your usage.
In terms of performance, the latest models of the Hilux Revo come with notable improvements. These include the rear cross-axle differential lock for SR5 4X4 vehicles, the iMT system on manuals to match revs when downshifting, power and eco engine modes, electronic downhill assist control (DAC) for SR5 4X4 automatics, and six-speed transmissions on both manual and auto variants.
Effort is also reduced in steering by 13%, making the big vehicle an easier drive.
Overall, the advantage of the Toyota Hilux Revo is in its flexibility to be used either on just a drive around town or on a rough-terrain trip. Its ability to cross between the borders of luxurious and laborious is what most people will be attracted to.
